So I've been silent for months, for a few reasons. Super busy with work and the kids, mostly. But partly because Pool's season was so bad, so embarrassing, so bereft of hope, that I just wanted to pretend it wasn't happening. Man, this season hurt. Less said about that the better. (Although if you insist on being masochistic, Nate over at Oh You Beauty reliably covered the the entire awful 09-10 season intelligently and with an admirable lack of profanity.)

I return because we are now within sniffing distance of the World's Greatest Sporting Event: the World Cup. I started writing about futbol four years ago because of the World Cup. My favorite sporting event is the World Cup; my favorite team in all of sports is the USMNT. Which means, of course, that I will end this tourney disappointed, because even a delusional fan such as myself cannot see us hoisting the Cup. But I don't expect us to. I would, however, like to see us get out of the group stage. We absolutely can and should. If we do not, I will be enraged, and may stop posting in a fit of childishness.

My intent, though, is to blog regularly during the Cup. I take my Cup with beer, so it will be interesting to see how post quality varies.
