Phew. u20 US beat Uruguay 2-1 in extra-time. The US was outplayed for around the first 80 mins by Uruguay, although Uruguay also benefitted from an official who was spellbound by Uruguay's diving. It was an ugly match -- nothing like the Brazil game -- filled with cards, fouls, and a brawl at the end of the game.

Although he scored the winning goal, I was not impressed with Bradley. On offense, he lacked creativity and his passes were often off-target. And the less of Dax McCarty, the better -- he's a mistake waiting to happen.

This might be the best soccer day of the summer:

1. US-Uruguay, in the octofinals of the u20 World Cup, 6:30 Central, Galavision. Uruguay is playing without their first string keeper, who was red-carded in their last match.

2. Argentina-Mexico, in the semifinals of the Copa America, 7:30 Central, Univision. Mexico and Argentina played a terrific game at WC06, with Argentina winning 2-1 in extra-time. That was the Maxi Rodiguez goal game, which was probably the best goal at WC06.

I'm going to watch US-Uruguay in its entirety, then switch to Argentina-Mexico. I'm rooting for the Mexicans, because I want CONCACAF to win the Copa.
