Liverpool beats PSV 1-0 to advance to the CL semis. I didn't see the game, for work reasons, but I'll watch on uefa.com.

The semifinal matchup, of course, is Liverpool v. Chelsea. The truth on this matchup is that losing to Chelsea in the semifinals would be worse than not making the semifinals at all. Nonetheless, I like the Reds' chances...much more on this to come.

The Reds play PSV at Anfield today, and I'm pleased to see Rafa reminding his players that being up 3-0 in the CL doesn't mean things are over. Istanbul, anyone? After Chelsea's gutty win yesterday (I'm telling you, Essien is the most important guy on that team) and Man Utd's historic destruction of Roma, if the Reds blow today's game I'll light myself on fire.

I'm still reeling from UFC 69 on Saturday, where Georges St. Pierre -- unanimously considered to be the top welterweight in the world -- lost (by TKO) his welterweight championship to Matt Serra, a gritty undersized veteran with a middling record. It was the biggest upset in UFC history, and particularly painful to ol' FF, who is a strong GSP supporter. The point? If GSP can get knocked out by Matt Serra -- which not a single serious MMA commentator predicted or even believed was possible -- then Liverpool can lose 4-0 to PSV.

There'll be no talk of semifinal matchups on this blog until and unless the Scousers have officially advanced.
