Liverpool-Man U at Anfield this Saturday. In my mind, what happens here is irrelevant for Premiership purposes (for Pool). A good strong win over Man U will be an excellent way to prepare the Scousers for their midweek tie with Barcelona. Conversely, blowing the home streak against Man U might undermine the boys' confidence against their Spanish guests a few days later.

I won't be able to watch the game because it's on Setanta, not FSC, and I won't be able to make it to my local pub...I'll be home with my infant son, Fan Futbolito, who was born on Wednesday! He already has the look of a World Cup champion.

My best college buddy suggested I expand the subject matter of this blog to include mixed martial arts (MMA). I think that's a good idea, because I watch as much MMA as soccer. MMA also has the benefit of having no offseason.

There are two major MMA organizations: Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), which is based in America, and Pride Fighting Championships (Pride), which is based in Japan. Both have world class fighters, although fans of each league predictably like to extol the virtues of their org's fighters and demean the other's. Ignore that. All these guys are good.

Pride just had its second show in America last weekend, and it was widely agreed to be one of the best MMA cards ever. Seriously. The card was filled with major upsets and exciting fights. Here's a clip of the best fight of the card (and this year). The fight pitted Nick Diaz, a tough as nails ex-UFC fighter against Takanori Gomi, considered by many (before this fight) to be the number 1 160lb fighter in the world. Just watch:
