USA plays Trinidad & Tobago today at 4pm central on FSC. I won't be able to see the game, because of baby obligations, but suffice it to say that anything other than a win would be a huge disappointment.

Tevez v. Ribery -- who is uglier?

I still hope Pool picks up Tevez.

USA 1, Guatemala 0. USA dominated the first half, and failed to convert several changes. Happily, the pretty Beasley-Twellman-Dempsey goal was all we needed. That notwithstanding, our defense needs work. Backline organization is poor, and Gooch needs some real coaching on maintaining concentration.

I'm generally not the guy who complains about reffing, but today's ref was a disaster. He let the Guatemalans get away with murder. Play after play in the second half involved obvious fouls on the US players, with nary a second look from the official. Garbage.

Alright, men. Let's erase the memories of our last meeting with Guatemala (a 0-0 snoozefest) by coming out fast and strong. Tonight, 8pm Central, FSC.

USMNT pounded China 4-1. It was youthful, enthusiastic, aggressive soccer. Our defense was not organized, but I was extremely pleased with the match. Bradley hasn't lost since assuming the reins, including the "interim" games. So far I've been impressed with his ability to prepare and motivate the lads.

I like our chances to defend the Gold Cup.
