Just watched the first half of Spurs-Chelsea, 1-1. Wow. An absolute classic soccer match. It's like watching a hundred yard dash where the sprinters are punching each other and gobbling amphetamines.
Chelsea poured it on in the first twenty minutes and looked to obliterate Spurs. Robben's early wide open chance was squelched by an incredible recovery tackle from Ledley King. Moments later, Chelsea got its deserved goal from Makelele, who uncorked a highlight reel curveball from the top of the key on which Robinson had no chance. At that point I thought the Spurs might lose 4-nil. Chelsea was dominant.
Things changed at minute 24. Dawson head-flicked an incoming free kick to the far corner of Hilario's goal and levelled. Tottenham grabbed the momentum, and pressed hard, with Berbatov and Lennon creating all sorts of havoc for the Chelsea defense. Lennon, especially, had a sparkling effort where he beat Cole and Lampard then lofted a nice cross that, unfortunately, Spurs could not capitalize on.
This game is the best EPL match I've seen all year, so far. Onto the second half.
